I knew when I decided to move to wordpress from typepad that it would be painful to leave 3 years of work behind me as there was no direct conversion between these two blogging platforms. I thought of moving some of my essential posts manually like the macaron chronicles, duck confit , culinary boot camps etc. but deep regrets regarding the fate of an important part of my blog – the comment section – lingered. They would be gone…deleted into the oblivion of cyberspace once I discontinued my membership to Typepad.
Hannah of Sherbet Blossom Design recommended that I take a look at a post by a company that actually did conversions from Typepad to Wordpress. I stared at the instructions and knew it was going to be a messy ordeal to undertake myself so it was a no-brainer that it was totally worth it to let the company do it for me.
The company is Foliovision. I contacted them last week and by the end of day yesterday, all my posts, pictures, categories and comments have been migrated to my new home! Hurrah!
I was very pleased with how fast and efficient everything transpired and would like to extend props to Alec Kinnear and his team for such timely deliverables and high standards of professionalism. I will definitely be contacting them again for future enhancements to my site.
And a dear friend is visiting! There have been non-stop baking, rolling and whisking since last night – butter, flour, cream and sugar galore! Right now we’re both busy click-clacking away in front of our laptops and yes, it’s almost 2:00 am in the morning…
Here’s a preview of what’s to come.
And yes, it’s delicious!

Glad to hear everything went ok with the migration!
OMG Veron, I just love the redness of the plum created so lifely for the tart, I bet the sourness of the lemon complimented the dessert well!, …………. Just Pure Awesome!
Oh! I came up with a Black Stallion Macaron!
Hi,
Super post, Need to mark it on Digg
Saurooon
Yay! I’m so glad you were able to save it all! I can imagine how heartbroken it would be to lose all of your comments, etc.
The new site looks great! Very pretty and clean. You and I will have to compare notes on learning WP.
BTW, did you notice that we both have the same brown striped background on our sites? I wonder if our designers compared notes too.
Hi,
I was just wondering why you decided to switch from Typepad to Wordpress? I am currently with Wordpress and thinking of switching to Typepad, as Wordpress doesn’t allow advertising on its blogs! Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi Erika! I was having my blog redesigned and Typepad limits the capability of it. There are more options and flexibility with wordpress.
You did a good thing. You let the professionals do their job and “you” do your profession. Great job and both.
