Mmmm ... I love pecan bars!

Looking at the photo and recipe makes me remember ... the crumbly shortbread-like crust, filled with a chewy and soft caramel filling, then topped with crunchy pecans ...

Anyone else salivating?

Now this is the type of thing that makes me almost want to cry because I can't have nuts anymore.. It's also this kind of thing that makes me want to ignore that I can't have nuts anymore ;)

Those are the type of bars that I start eating and can't stop and will nibble a little piece off of each time I walk through the kitchen.

Yesterday at Trader Joe's I bought a huge bag of pecans (such a bargan!), with the idea that some would go into a salad dressing for a cajun/creole dinner that one of my cooking groups is preparing in a couple of weeks. I had no idea what I'd do with the remaining pecans....but now my mouth is watering at the sound of these bars. Oh my goodness!

Veron,

These beauties should be bakes all year long!

I can only imagine the delicious smell taking over your kitchen - yes, I'm jealous! ;D

I think that those recipes that have been around, from one person to another - are great. They usually work perfectly and then you'll be the next person to continue the "chain", passing the recipe around.

Lisa - that is sad that you can't have nuts anymore...I wonder what we can substitute for pecans.
I know what you mean Brilynn, whenever the "hungry" hubby and I finish one each, we look at each other and say "wanna split another one"
Wow Lydia, you definitely need to make these bars...its one way to use up those pecans honorably ;).
Yes Patricia, I think pecan bars are seasonless, in fact I feel the need to make them again.

Yes, I go with all year long! These are true beauties!
Without the food processor, I really like freezing my butter and grating it into the flour. It's pretty much gravel size then and just about all you have to do is fluff it with a fork.
Love the illustration. Lobstersquad I believe! Cool.
