A Mingling of Cultures

Appetizer

Last weekend my sister-in-law, culinary extraordinaire, prepared a sumptuous cross-cultural dinner for my visiting relatives. From Persian cuisine, we had a refreshing appetizer of tomato, soaked almonds and cucumber which you assemble with some herbs and feta cheese on crusty pita bread; a main dish of the Barberry Rice  which I featured earlier except this time with cut up chicken breast and finally a yoghurt-cucumber dill mix which is perfect for tah-dig - that crusty rice at the bottom of the pot.

Empanaditas

From Spanish cuisine she made empanaditas, which are small turnovers with a ground meat filling. And finally from Indian cuisine, a lamb curry made with the meat and some osso bucco cuts with that sinful marrow still intact, Yum!

Dinnertable

For my part I brought a chocolate dessert, which is fondly called “The Queen of Sheba”. Watch for my next post on this soon!
